Why aren't my feedback labels printing? (Common problems)

If the print button does nothing, a student is missing, or your labels come out the wrong size, it's usually one of these.

"Nothing to print yet"

MarkMate only prints feedback that has been written. If this message appears, the assessment doesn't have any feedback yet. Add some feedback while marking, then try again.

A student is missing from my labels

A student only gets a label if they have written feedback. Check that you've added feedback for them on the Overview tab or in marking.

A heading is missing from a student's labels

Labels are made from written feedback. If a heading has a grade but no comment, it won't get a label.

Nothing opened when I clicked Print

The labels open in a new browser tab. If nothing appears:

  • Look for a pop-up blocked icon in your browser's address bar.

  • Click it and choose to always allow pop-ups from MarkMate.

  • Click Print again.

My labels print on A4 paper, or come out the wrong size

Each page of the PDF is one label. In your printer settings:

  • Choose your label printer, not your normal office printer.

  • Set the paper size to match your labels.

  • Set the scale to 100% or Actual size, not "Fit to page".

  • Check that the label size in MarkMate matches your labels (see How to change the label size).

The text on my labels is tiny

MarkMate shrinks the text to fit everything on the label. To make it bigger, choose a larger label size, untick items under Include that you don't need, or turn off One label per student.
