After you upload a resource, MarkMate reads it so the AI can use it. You'll see the resource's status in the library.

If it keeps failing

  • Scanned or photographed documents: make sure the text is clear, the right way up and in focus.

  • Password-protected PDFs: remove the password and upload it again.

  • Very large files: split them into smaller documents, for example one mark scheme per paper.

  • Unusual layouts: save the document as a PDF and try again.

Important: A resource that hasn't finished extracting, or failed, won't be used in marking. Check that your resources show no badge before clicking Draft feedback.

You can use the Status filter in the library to find any resources that failed.
