To save Click the Save button (top right), or press Ctrl + S (⌘ + S on a Mac). You'll see Saving… and then Saved.

If you see "Couldn't save" Check your internet connection and click Save again. Your work is still on the screen.

If you try to leave without saving MarkMate warns you. Click Save & continue to save and move on.
